I work for Kay Stanford for K&S Embroidery 3 to 4 weekends a month at sporting tournaments around the states of North Dakota and Minnesota. We set up our tables and products at volleyball, basketball, hockey, and figure skating tournaments. The tournaments we travel to are some of the most fun because we meet new people, make contacts, and usually get to stay in a different town in a hotel room and after a long day of work it's just fun to sit back with them and relax.
Most, if not all, of the tournaments are girls tournaments because they buy more than guys do and they enjoy what we sell more than the guys. There are also more options for girls to buy.
At a typical tournament, we sell an average of $1,700 worth of merchandise. There are quite a few different things we sell. We sell tournament shirts, which Kay or her son design, we sell sweatpants, flare pants, and pajama pants. We also sell sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, and t-shirts. We customize them all with names or whatever the customers want to put on them with vinyl that we cut and heat on right then and there. At the figure skating tournaments, we also sell skate guards, dresses, and tights.
I absolutely love working for Kay and her husband Scott. We have a lot of fun and get a lot done. Stephen, their nephew and my boyfriend, works for them as well. We all get along and have these little jokes it's a lot of fun!

Your job seems very fun and interesting. I think that its great that K&S goes to the customers to sell their products and get their name out there. I remember going to tournements and buying clothes such as pajama pants that had basketballs on them or basketball shorts.
ReplyDeleteI think that by customizing the clothings and having it down right then in there is awesome. Its a great way to sell the product. Most people want their results instant and dont want to wait for the clothing to be sent to them in a week or two.
Your job is a great opportunity for you to get out to meet new people to to build many relationships with them as well. The first impact that you guys have on customers is very important. They are going to remember how they were treated and t he service that you guys gave.
ReplyDeleteNot only are they going to remember how you treated them but they are also going to tell others either the good or the bad service they recevied. If you are getting great reports about your products and services word is going to travel fast. People will start calling you from all over to have customized products made. The first impression is always important but also your service is just as important.
i think that this is a great example of public relations. you and your co workers mingled with the crowd in attempt to get your comapanies name out and sell product. great job and great example of PR.
